Quilts n' Quirks

This site shows some of the quilts I have made over the past 50+ years. I love planning and sewing quilts, but am not quite so keen on quilting them, so I usually tie them, or hire someone to machine quilt them. There are many quilts I've made that I don't have pictures of, so I'm hoping if you've received one I don't show here, that you'll send me a picture of it.

Dancing Ballerinas from E-bay

Dancing Ballerinas from E-bay
This was my first quilt top purchased from e-bay, and it so reminded me of my oldest granddaughter, Laurie. Even though I didn't do much actual work on the quilt, as the top was totally pieced and appliqued, I did plan it out, then had Jeri Montella quilt it.

Thankfulness Gifts

Thankfulness Gifts
I probably made about 20 wall hangings with fruit jars as appreciation gifts from family and friends in 2006. I made nearly 100 bottles while at Autumn's helping her when Peyton was born. I had Cathy Cosby machine embroidery Thanksgiving quotes on black fabric which I added to each of them.

Wedding Quilts

Wedding Quilts
Over the past 20 years I've made many quilts for weddings, starting with my own children, and then for extended family and friends. Here are some of the ones I've made. This Cheater Quilt (printed fabric to look like it's pieced) was made for Brian and Susie Bayles. I'll always remember the evening that Suzie's family and Brian came over to help tie it. There were at least 4 guys who had never tied before. There was some wild stitching going on! Afterward I spent several hours, redoing the tangeled threads on the back, and removing strange stitches. But the fun was worth it!!

Tucker's wedding quilt

Tucker's wedding quilt
This is another great find on e-bay, which just needed to be finished. It looked sort of manly, and with snowflake blue on the back it was perfect for one of our favorite nephews

I made this for Katrina Distil, one of our YSA girls. This was a cheater print as well, but a pattern I especially loved. We tied it outside in our yard.

May Wedding quilt

Even though they didn't need warm quilts when they were living in Texas and in S. Carolina, by the time they moved to Alaska with the military, Nathan and Tammy needed warm quilts. This is a Navajo theme quilt made for their wedding.

Emily & Scott Guptil Wedding quilt

I made this tree and flowers quilt from a pattern I learned at the State quilt guild convention. We were able to fly to Oregon to be to their wedding, as did my siblings, so it was a wonderful family reunion in Portland, Or.

Ruth and Dana Jensen married Summer 2006

Ruth and Dana Jensen married Summer 2006
Another of Lynn's children was married in the summer and I made this Fourth of July Quilt for them. We had a get together in Provo for the Keeler relatives the week after their wedding.

Regina Cazier Ahib's Wedding Quilt. We were able to meet Regina and her fiancee when Steve and I chaperoned SJHS students at the National History Fair back in Washington DC. They took us around the big city one evening and we've hardly seen them since--but still remember that evening together.

Dianna Nielson's Wedding quilt

One of those Buffalo Gang Quilts I made. Autumn and five of her friends formed the Buffalo gang, and pictorial wedding quilts were one thing we tried to make for them. I think I've set together 3 of the tops.

Tour de Force 2005

Tour de Force 2005
This is the hardest quilt I ever made but it won 1st place in Blanding's Centennial Quilt show. It tells the history of our home, which was built in 1912, and also shows some unique things about our 8 children. It was the first time I'd ever tried doing applique. This quilt was my personal Centennial History project and took about 6 months to make. The Dresden plates contain historic photos showing how our home has evolved. The 8 appliques show something unique about each of our children. The four scrolls list the chronoligical development and history of our home, and the center, which was done last, show my rendition through fabric of how I see our home.
